Safari in Sauraha (Nepal 2012 Trip)

I am inspired to continue my entry for Nepal this time, after watching a late night Bollywood film with hub last night, Kathmandu came suddenly into the scene. How memorable it was until Hub even mentioned his desire to visit the country! sebab dia plak terlebih excited. LOL

One of our must-visit places during that 2012 trip was Chitwan National Park, located in the southern region of  Nepal, 30 km from India-Nepal border. I wished that we too had Indian visa to border cross but of course it was not doable due to the time limit.

The Road leading to Chitwan National Park. Every countries visited, the signage of passing animals must be a taken for a shot, for remembrance. LOL
My driver took us into this village area of Sauraha. As we descended from the highland to the flatland, things were getting pretty exciting when we see paddy field, cows or buffalos and some farming activities. It reminds us a lot to our kampung too, like Kedah and other northern region. The journey from Pokhara to Chitwan National Park took almost the entire day with some stop to have nature calls and lunch.

I can say Sauraha was the best thing happened during the entire trip. We met cool people who were not reluctant to be open and fun with the visitors, in many good ways. My tour guide brought us to this place for stay - Hotel Rainforest.

http://www.hotelrainforest.com.np/aboutus.php

The friendship established between the visitors and the staff are amazing, still a facebook buddy to my guide, Mr. Arpan Guni and Mr. Buddha too, the chief among them all. Somehow it reminds me to my Outward Bound School (OBS) Experience in Lumut Perak. Very Cool!

You can google to find review of this place.

People of Sauraha.
Well, I am not going to dwelve on the details. You can google the hotel mentioned since they come with activities for you to choose and do during the entire stay. Basically two or three days will be packed with activities, another point to come and again reminds me to that OBS experience, in more relaxed ways. What we have in Sauraha were :

1. Jungle trekking Activity
2. Visit to Chitwan National Park - elephant riding, Rhino watching, river cruising
3.  Local Tharu Dance Show (at night)
4. Sunset watching in Chitwan's River
5. BBQ (final night before departure)
6. Free n easy roaming in the town

Snake Skin found during jungle trekking activity

Chitwan National Park is a protected region of wild life so you will not see any people hunting the animals or to take any thing out of the forest except for the locals who are granted with special permission to gather herbs or wood material for their industrial usage. In the event of villagers being attacked by the wild life, there will be a special fund that pays the local some money. Dead crocodile carcasses or dead crocodile skin are not allowed to be taken out from this area too, so will see a number of them in this park without any harm.
Elephant Bathing Time. A must try!

I will leave readers with photos and no more explanation. Just to leave some surprise and room for imagination, especially for anyone who have intention to visit this place.
Some active crocodiles found during river cruise. Cool, they will not bite.
Elephants in the sanctuary visit. A bench mark to future Kuala Gandah's trip?
A rhino caught sleeping in the park.

Couple of Chitwan, resting near Chitwan National Park.

Local girls met during our sunset watching in the river.
Kids of Chitwan.
The only thing I would like to see is the improvement of the road but of course it takes some years to develop. Who knows someday I may come and visit again this place. Insya Allah.

River Cruising. A must do to!

This entry marks the final episode of my Nepal 2012 trip. I believe at this point of time many Malaysians has set their foot on the sacred land of Nepal due to cheap air ticket available and promotions done at MATTA fair. Perhaps people who have visited come with more stories of hiking activities which I did not manage to do it in the first place.

I would say Nepal is a must visit for those avid travellers. You will experience a total different culture, sight and people whom you may continue to have friendship with them for many many years because they are such cool people. The simplicity of life in Nepal is too another point for you.

The end......

Ramadhan Al Mubarak 2014

Dear Readers,

It has been some time not to update this blog, but I hope it will give many insight and  knowledge to new readers and visitors, for whatever reasons.

Anyhow, I would like to wish Selamat Berpuasa to Muslim readers. It has been more than 10 days now when fasting is observed,  but with endless Israel's attack on Gaza for now, Syawal is just another celebration. Not really a joyous one, I guess  :(

As of current, I am busy with personal matters. Family wise, I am soon to be a mother and about time to deliver , so traveling is no-no at the moment, rehat kat rumah cukup :)

Of going places, the last trip taken was to Beijing and Qingdao, China for work purpose. Insya Allah, there will be ample time to share the stories when I have my blissful 3 months of maternity leave!

Being a mother is a rewarding experience and it is more fulfilling to travel with kids.

New memories created, photos captured for remembrance and of course the experience managing a small platoon (insya allah if i can bear more) should be the way to travel in future.

Have a blessed Ramadhan. Pray that I will be around to share my stories here.

Take care.

Istanbul Aku Datang 2014

Dataran Taksim..pernah menyimpan sejarah perhimpuan membantah cadangan Kerajaan.

Bilik ku mengadap lautan Marmara...

Mengabdikan kenangan di Dataran Taksim bersama seorang boss, Cik Norzita

Sebenarnya, lokasi hotel kami betul betul strategik. Kenapa?
Satu token memerlukan tiga lira =RM4.50. Pegi balik adalah RM18 hokeh. quite expensive la sebab jarak pun bukan jauh sangat tapi tak sanggup la nak menapak. Kiranya kalau nak murah carilah apa apa offer tambang pass seharian ker, tapi mak tidak lah membuat kajian menjalan. Asal dapat jalan cukup. Stesen metro terletak betul betul di hadapan hotel iaitu di Taksim Square sendiri. Memang accessible.

Sorryla mak tak berkesempatan mengambil gambar sistem rel mereka.

http://www.istanbultrails.com/2009/08/getting-around-in-istanbul-by-metro-tram-and-funicular/

The Blue Mosque, Masyallah kagum melihat rekaan di luar sahaja
Blue Mosque.. rasa macam tak percaya dah sampai. Alhamdulillah

The New Mosque, sebelah Spice Market, satu minaret sahaja.....
Berada di dalam Grand Bazaar. Perasan?

Gate 15 ehheheheh.

Kualiti kemeja pun not bad, lot better than what you can find in mydin, between alain delon dan Bonia gittew tetapi ni jenama local turkey. so kalau rasa nak shopping kemeja kapas, skirt atau jubah yang elok sikit, boleh lah start merancang. You figure.

Till then.....

Travel Updates & Hotel Review for 2013

There were some trips in the past plus hotel stay which I think is good to be posted here.

However due to limitation of time, I may cover bit by bit, and hopefully I am able to finish these before the year end. Picking up the pieces is not easy but I need to write again, for the sake of remembering them and when friends and families asking for tips, blog will be easier to refer, isn't it?

To recap on the past journey in 2013;

  • Kuching Short Getaway (Labour Day)
  • Subang Flight simulation centre tour
  • E&O Hotel, Penang
  • Upin and Ipin Animation Studio
  • PD latest Hotels

I look forward to future journey and hopefully many more to come.

KK Trip - Kundasang - Desa Dairy Farm - Luanti ( Part I)

This is the best trip so far I think, since being bogged down with work throughout the year. I took the opportunity during my work trip, to spend a day outside and guess it was nice that we had our trip in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.

It is better to go on holiday rather to spend time (business plus leisure) if you are the ORGANISER. Not many chances to be on your own since other participants may want to have you around to ensure the work part is settled.

Travel wise : Holiday is holiday. Work is work.

There were tips can be learn from this Kundasang outing. You need to spend at least a night in Kundasang to see the sunrise in the next day with no cloud formation for the best view of the mountain. Two hours journey is doable but going to one spot and another within one day is pretty rushing, I think.

We took a van from a travel agency. Service is so and so, I would not really recommend this one since the person does not get back to me after I texted him some feedback.I would expect this person to at least explain why one of the items in the itinerary went missing. But of course to compare the inbound tourism industry dengan yang ada di luar sana, not fair lah kan. Tepuk dada tanya selera. I consider myself as a very fussy tourist when it comes to tour paid services.

To cut the story short, lets have a look at the pictures shall we?

Ahahahha, dah  termuncul nama syarikat. Layan jer lah. We departed early morning at 8.00 am from the hotel lobby.
The road is in good condition. Not many cars on the road that day but it can be pretty congested during festive season especially Christmas.
Throughout the journey, you will be able to see the mountain peak but at this hour around 9.30 a.m the cloud start coming to conceal the view.
A word of caution : You may not be able to stop for photos taking considering there is no facilities for observation deck along the road.  However, there are some wider spot available at your own risk.  All the pictures were taken in mobile mode.

We have passed the mountain area and now heading to Luanti. View of Kundasang.
Kundasang area. Houses on the hills with farming activities (vegetables, mostly). Definitely a breathtaking view.
It takes about 21 km from Kundasang to Luanti. The fish spa at Tagal Sungai Moroli Luanti is good but the water is so murky due to raining, quite a let down if you want to have that clear crystal water for photos shoot. Food for fish is sold for RM1 per packet. entrance fee is RM15 per person for 15 minutes. You have to line up to have your turn to go down into the river, a little bit restrictive considering the river can be quite OK to what I have seen in Taman Negara Kuala Tahan. Kiddies pool level I can say, ehheheheh. Since we had been in Luanti, prior to arrive this spot, you can also have a stop in Poring Hot Spring. We could not have the place due to negligence of the tour operator who did not include the item in the itinerary. The reason I was a little bit upset but never mind, there will be always time to come again for another visit.

After we had our lunch in Kundasang, we went straight to Desa Dairy Farm which was really worth the journey during this entire trip Why? The weather is cool, though it was raining when we arrived. The view is really breathtaking (seriously, it prompts me to go similar place after this) and I do think this is the highlight of this tour. Nothing else. However due to mass tourism the place could not cater many visitors at one time. Too many visitors queuing up to purchase the milk and the food. Nevertheless,  the  new on going structure being built for a cafe/restaurant is something better for the future visitors.

For parents, kids would definitely love the idea of feeding the calves. Be prepared to spare cash purchasing grass for the animals. Without I realise, I have spent around RM10.00 just for the purpose, but it was definitely a good distraction for kids to be able to remember the moment in Kundasang. In good playful way.

After we left Desa Dairy Farm, the next spot will be Kinabalu Park. The weather became worse when the rain kept pouring and we even did not have the chance to be able to walk in the Botanical Garden. Nothing much we could do except to sit and get some rest on a comfortable sofa after almost 2 hour journey from Kundasang. Fortunately Kinabalu Park does come with an information centre where exhibits of flora and fauna preserve and sample of rock formation were displayed. Nothing much spectacular since we have missed the video time with daily show at 2 p.m.

For the mountain climbers, Kinabalu Park is the entrance to begin their journey of climbing.
The accommodation offered to climbers and natural lovers. The price can be a real steep. Book in advance necessarily.
We managed to sit down and enjoy the view. The big pakus pakis plant is a bonus. Feels like going back to Jurassic Era in most comfortable mode.
More view from the balcony.
The staff lighting up the fire's place. It can be so cold at night.
Overall, the places of interest covered are:

Tagal Sungai Moroli Kampung Luanti (Fish Massage)
Desa Dairy Farm
Kinabalu Park
Rumah terbalik
Jambatan Tamparuli

To be continued....
